Playing Hard (New York Saints #4) by Melanie Scott

I was given an ARC in exchange of an honest review.

HIS GAME NEVER FAILS…

Baseball fanatic Oliver Shields has had his eye on the ball since he was a kid. Playing for the New York Saints is a dream come true, and making the play-offs is a reason to celebrate years of dedicated field work and batting practice. The season isn't over yet, but meeting gorgeous Amelia Graham seems like a bonus grand slam—until one night of partying threatens to take Oliver out of the game for good…

UNTIL SHE THROWS HIM A CURVEBALL…

All work and no play has always been Amelia's motto, earning her a coveted job on Wall Street job and the professional clout she's always longed for. Oliver is a real player—in more ways than one—and a distraction she doesn't need, especially given her dating record. When flirtation turns to attraction so fierce neither one of them can say good-bye, will Oliver and Amelia step up to the plate—and give love a chance?

Very well written, Playing hard is a great ride. Oliver and Amelia are terrific characters with depth and space to grow even more. Their chemistry is the kind to melt panties.
I didn't like the Castros, though, not even one of them. They´re all self-asserted assholes, and they treat Amelia very poorly. I expected Finn´s behavior toward her, after all he was an asshole through the whole book. His parents didn't seem so fond of Amelia as she thought they were. And Em´s behavior was quite right shocking. I don´t know if I could forgive such treason act.

But, Castro´s aside, I loved the story, how it was told, how it developed. it was perfect.

Playing Pretend by Tamsyn Bester

I was given an ARC in exchange of an honest review.

Kadence Kavanagh has spent the last two years trying to rebuild her life. When a job opportunity presents itself, she can’t say no, even if it’s with the man who’s life was ruined by her father’s indiscretion. It’s been years since she last saw Caleb Callahan, and she’s not even sure he remembers her, but she’s determined to give herself a clean slate no matter who she has to work for.

In the unlikeliest of circumstances, Caleb becomes her savior – if somewhat reluctantly - and she discovers that the man she’s read about in the gossip columns is nothing more than a smoke screen. Kadence knows that keeping her distance is for the best, no matter how difficult, but when Caleb proposes the unthinkable, she finds herself caught between what’s real, and what she wishes was real.

Caleb and Kadence lose themselves in a lie, and when reality comes knocking, they realize that all they were doing was playing pretend…

What a clusterfuck!!! This story started well, but it lost its trail pretty soon. The relationship between Caleb and Kadence felt off form the very beginning.
Everything felt so surreal, sometimes I felt like I was reading one of Diana Palmer´s books, and I´m not a fan of her work.

And beyond all the idiotic situations we still have some informations and facts changing during the story. Like physical characteristics or dates. It´s extremely confusing and annoying.

The Secret to Letting Go by Katherine Fleet

I was given an ARC in echange of an honest review.

One summer can change everything...

Haunted with guilt after his girlfriend’s death, Daniel Hudson has no interest in committing to anyone. At the end of the summer, he’ll be leaving Florida for a new start in college. If only he could avoid the mysterious new girl in town, who seems every bit as naive and eccentric as she looks. Trouble is, she’s hard to ignore, with her beautiful piercing eyes, pitiful-looking dog, and unsettling tendency of finding trouble.

Clover Scott lived her whole life off the grid and arrives on the Gulf coast in search of her grandparents. She never expected to nearly drown, or get caught in a hurricane, or fall in love with the boy who rescues her. Now, she has a chance to rewrite her life’s story, to finally fit in somewhere, but Daniel wants answers about her past. When the police start asking questions about the disappearance of her parents, she must make a choice: go to jail or confess her secrets—even if they might destroy her chance at a happily-ever-after.

OMG. This story hooked me in since the first page. I loved the way Daniel noticed Clover, even with her odd clothes and behavior he couldn't let her go.
In these times of strong women, it still is nice to read about a Knight in the shining armor like Daniel but it is even nicer to see a person who went through so much immeasurable problems during her whole life could go from that mousy person to learn to stand up for herself, even in her mousy times, Clover stood up for others, for the ones who need. She saw the world in a very special way, far from sarcasm, hypocrisy or indifference. It´s beautiful how she cares for the forgotten ones.
I must say I hated Daniel a little for not put Morgan in her place. She wasn't the kind of girl he thought she was, and he was terribly oblivious to her behavior toward Clover.

I really hope Daniel and Clover will win another book telling us more about them, they deserve and we too.

Thirty Nights with a Dirty Boy: Part 3: A Heroes and Heartbreakers Serial (Thirty Nights with a Dirty Boy #3) by Shiloh Walker

I was given an ARC in exchange of an honest review.

The sensational conclusion to Shiloh Walker's erotic serial Thirty Nights with a Dirty Boy...

Ella Cruise knows love isn't for her. Or she did, before her arrangement with sinfully sexy bartender and male prostitute, Sean Lachlan, for thirty nights of fantastic, no-strings sex. But the more she learns about him, the deeper she falls, until she starts to wonder: Can thirty nights be enough when what she really wants is forever?

I loved to read this series and I'm honored that i received the ARC of all the three books. The third and final installment in Sean and Ella´s story, was good, but I felt it wasn't as good as the previous ones. It had more potential.

But it certainly was a good ride, I loved how Ella learn how to stand-up for herself, it was a beautiful thing to see. It broke my heart when I could finally understand what happened with her and Sean when they were little kids.

Thirty Nights with a Dirty Boy: Part 2: A Heroes and Heartbreakers Serial (Thirty Nights with a Dirty Boy #2)

I was given an ARC in exchange of an honest review

Shiloh Walker invites you deeper into the sensual e-serial Thirty Nights with a Dirty Boy, where some rules are made to be broken...

Haunted by her past, Ella Cruise has no desire for a long-term relationship, but thanks to a contract with wickedly handsome bartender and male prostitute Sean Lachlan, she now has thirty nights to live out every fantasy she's ever had—and more—under the tutelage of a very dirty boy. There's just one problem: Love was never part of the deal...

I'm really happy to say the part two is even better than the part  one. I loved to discover why Sean did what he did. And that end. God, what was that?

Thirty Nights with a Dirty Boy: Part 1: A Heroes and Heartbreakers Serial (Thirty Nights with a Dirty Boy #1) by Shiloh Walker

I was given an ARC in exchange of an honest review.

Money Can't Buy Love...
Ella Cruise doesn't like to be touched. A survivor of childhood abuse, she craves security in all aspects of her life: fulfilling work at the nonprofit she runs, more than enough money to live comfortably, and a good friend and confidant. But none of it can ease her longing for intimacy, even if just for a night. When she meets a gorgeous bartender who moonlights as a male prostitute, a bold idea begins to take shape...

But It Can Buy a Night of Passion —or Thirty...
Sean Lachlan is stunned by the cool beauty's offer: 30 nights of no-strings sex in exchange for all the money he'd need to start over. The deal seems too good to be true, especially since his desire for her is no act, but Sean finds he can't turn her down. Before they know it, Sean and Ella realize they're in deep, their defenses crumbling. Will thirty nights with a dirty boy be enough after all, or will love lead Ella and Sean back to the negotiating table?

Part 1 of 3. Ella meets Sean for the first time. Her friend Sasha warns her off, because he´s a male prostitute, but Ella craving someone's touch and she thinks he´s the perfect solution for her problems. They had a great chemistry and she feel more comfortable with him than with anyone else since her guardian died. The story ends after they spent their first night together.

I'm enjoying very much this series, and I expect the next books to be as good as this one.

Three (Love by Numbers #3) by E.S. Carter

I was given an ARC in exchange of an honest review.

I am a son.
I am a brother.
I am an artist.
I am a student.
I am her student.

She was my first.
First infatuation, first ‘real’ kiss, first love, first.....
heartbreak.

I gave her everything, including my body and would have given her more.
I gave her ‘I love you’ ….she told me her heart was filled by another, there was no room left for me.

We could never be.
What we did was wrong.
It didn’t feel wrong to me.

The deepest hurt is a love that you cannot have. It will last the longest, cut the deepest and feel the strongest.
It is an imperfect love; a disfigured circle that never ends.
You cannot control it; it's as simple as blinking and just like blinking the more you try to stop it, the more the pain consumes you.

This is book 3 in 'The Love by Numbers' series.
Although it contains characters from the previous books, it can be read as a standalone.

In the end of this book the author made a special dedication and the first phrase is: "This book is, quite simply, about love". And she´s right on target, it is quite simply, about love. Love in the purest form, the love of a parent for a child with special needs and the love of a special kind of man who has such a giving and warming and ginormous heart that he fell in love not only with the carer of this special child but with the kid as well. It requires a different brand of man to this.

I loved this book so much. Its beyond perfection, you can feel the love they felt for each other pouring off of it. I didn´t read the books prior to this one, but I´m certainly anxious to read them, I fell in love with Jake and Emma (MC of books one and two of the series) reading about them in Three, I can´t even think what I feel when I´ll read their story.

Dark Hearts (Secrets and Lies #3) by Sharon Sala

I was given an ARC in exchange of an honest review.

Some lies never stay buried...

Betsy Jakes was having nightmares, nightmares that could solve a decades-old mystery. And for someone in her small town, that meant she had to die.

When Sam Jakes returns home to help his brother solve their mother's murder, two things shake him to the core. This crime is clearly the work of a serial killer who has struck twice before. And ... Lainey Pickett is still in town. The woman he walked away from without an explanation years ago has just walked back into his life. She still holds a grudge - and his heart.

As Sam digs deeper into the murders and thirty-year-old secrets begin to emerge, he finds himself racing against time not only to catch a killer but to keep Lainey, the only woman he'll ever love, from falling victim, too.

When I requested this book at NG I didn't knew it was the third in the series. Fortunately it could be read as a standalone. I´m not a big fan of books with characters physically scarred, and I have noticed that have become a pattern lately. But knowing it was written by Sharon Sala I couldn't let it pass. Thank God, because it was awesome, I was hooked from the beginning. It was as good as I learn to expect from her books.

The plot was full of intricacy and twists, the characters had depth. They had to overcome so much suffering in order to be in a happy place. It was heart wrenching to see all they went through and them it was heartwarming and hopeful to see their way out, the new path they set for themselves.

Never Never: Part Three (Never Never #3) by Colleen Hoover and Tarryn Fisher

New York Times bestselling authors Colleen Hoover and Tarryn Fisher are back with the much-anticipated final installment in the Never Never novella series.
Together, Silas Nash and Charlize Wynwood must look deeper into the past to find out who they were and who they want to be. With time ticking down, the couple are in a race to find the answers they need before they lose everything. Can they regain what they once had? And will it restore who they once were?

OMG!!! I love Colleen´s books, she's perfection. I was so anxious waiting for this book. And as always she doesn't disappointed me.
It was the perfect end for Silas and Charlie.

If you haven´t read yet, I strongly recommend you to start right now. Just remember this is the third and final installment so you must read the parts 1 and 2 before this one.

Blocked (Blocked #1) by Jennifer Lane

I was given an ARC in exchange of an honest review

College freshman Lucia Ramirez has a secret crush on Dane Monroe. He’s a tall drink of water — blond, brash, and one hell of a volleyball player. ¡Híjole! Lucia hopes her volleyball scholarship to his school will make him notice her.

Too bad what’s noticeable is Dane’s obvious hatred for Lucia. Her family’s politics contradict everything he stands for. And politics are front and center in both their families. Dane’s mother is about to face Lucia’s father in the race for US President.

When Secret Service throws them together, Dane can’t deny his frustrating attraction to Lucia’s athletic curves and sweet faith in the world. Amid the intense pressure of college athletics and presidential politics, can opposites not just attract, but overcome overwhelming odds to be together? Or do their differences block their match from the start?

OMG. I loved this book. Lucia and Dane are perfect together. I loved how they fought for each other. Their relationship with their families were a strong part of what they were, but they didn't let that keep them apart.
They´re the portrait of perfection with all that height, Lucia is   6´2´´ and Dane is 6´8´´.
Lucia and Dane are just starting adulthood and besides college, the volleyball team and friendship they have to deal with the pressure, their parents race for presidency puts on them.
In some moment they succumbed, as expected, but they overcome their issues and became stronger together.

And, for me, the fact that in the end we don´t know who won the election was perfect.

Always Room for Cupcakes by Bethany Lopez

I  was given an ARC in exchange of an honest review

One day I was be-bopping along jamming to the music in my head while wondering if my thighs could handle grabbing a cupcake on the way home. The next thing I knew, my entire world crashed and burned.

I used to wake up at night in a sweat, crying because I’d dreamt that my husband was cheating on me, or that he hated me, and resented my kids. He’d always hold me close and tell me it was all just a dream, that he loved me and our family and that he’d never let me go.

He was a fucking liar.

Now I spend my days taking photos of scum just like him, trying to be a champion for other's being taken advantage of by the losers in our town, and my nights being a single mom to my beautiful twins.

I've got great friends who have my back, and a sexy, mysterious motorcycle man who keeps showing up when I need him. Maybe things are starting to look up, and one thing's for sure... There's always room for cupcakes.

What a funny and entertaining story. The way Lila reacted after her husband treason was hilarious. He´s certainly a d-bag and I think she should have stay at the house with the kids.
Cade was kind of over the top with his neanderthal ways. I didn´t like how he acted with Lila. His alpha behavior was overbearing and idiotic.
I lmao when Lila found out about her friend´s husband "treason".

In a general way I liked this book very much but I think Cade needs some work done on him.

She's a Sinner (A Sinner's Legacy Book 2) by Lynn Shurr

I was given an ARC in exchange of an honest review.

Tom Billodeaux, adopted son of a legendary Sinners quarterback, is making his mark as an outstanding kicker. When an opening occurs for a new punter, he is asked his opinion on the skills of Hall-of-Famer Andy Mortenson's grandchild, Alix Lindstrom. Not only is Alix a superb punter, she is also undeniably a tall, strong woman. For Tom, it's love the first time she removes her helmet, shakes out her blonde hair and gazes at him with her fjord-blue eyes.

Alix regards herself as an overly big, clunky female jock who must prove her ability to every man on the team. For years, she has adored Tom from afar. Unfortunately, she isn’t very good at flirting or making her desires known. As Tom helps her integrate with the Sinners, her feelings grow.

When Alix proves to be his equal in talent and gets roughed in a few plays, his mentoring and over-protectiveness prove his thoughts are in line with hers. But she doesn't want to be coddled. Can she establish her own identity between the goal posts while scoring touchdowns with him in private?

She´s a sinner is a sweet cute story. I loved how Tom cared for Alix. He´s a big guy, a great player and at same time he's a little unsure of himself in the sense that he fears Alix rejection, thinking he´s too red, too hairy. Is kind of sweet.
Alix is a Amazon, in a family full of tiny little girls, she was treated like a boy because of her height and weight.

I loved this story, from the plot to the characters, and I´ll certainly read the rest of the series as well as another books wrote by this author.

Betting On The Wrong Brother by Cathryn Fox

I was given an ARC in exchange of an honest review.

He may be at a romance readers’ convention, but a naked woman in the elevator is not what horror writer Ryan Wheeler expects. Now he can’t take his eyes off of her—and not just because he saw her naked, though her luscious curves certainly aren’t helping the matter. She’s beautiful, funny, snarky…and a complication he doesn’t need.

Running into her teen heartthrob while naked wasn’t exactly part of romance novelist Andi Palmer’s weekend plans. Worse, he doesn’t recognize her and gives her a fake name¬. Years ago, he shot her down in the worst possible way, and now this? It’s time for a little down-and-dirty revenge.

Ryan’s more than a little turned on by this good girl who wants to be bad. But things aren’t what they seem, and the secrets they’re keeping from one another might just end this sexy little rendezvous before it ever begins…

Is a short, sweet and funny story. With a overused plot,it still made me laugh and cheer for Jack and Andi.

Alexa Loved (Alexa #2) by T.R. Cupak

I was given an ARC in exchange of an honest review.

After her parents died during her senior year of high school, Alexa Morgan is completely alone in the world—except for her best-friend-turned-boyfriend Devin, identical twins Becca and Jessa, and Sebastian, a mysterious associate of her father’s.

Upon graduation, Alexa wants nothing more than to move on with her life, go to college, and forget all the hard and hurtful things from her tragic past. Ethan and Alexa shared one night of passion before he disappeared, leaving her bewildered and confused. But now he’s back, declaring that he loves her and that the only reason he left was to protect her from his malicious stepmother, Olivia.

In her heart, Alexa knows she loves Devin, but her attraction to Ethan is so strong she can’t help but be drawn in by their shared chemistry. Meanwhile, the threat of Olivia lurks around the edges, casting a menacing shadow over everything and everyone Alexa loves.

Oh God! What a mess! This book is a emotional roller coaster, with so many twists it made me dizzy.
First of all, I must say, this book is the second one and starts right where first one finished. I didn't know it when I requested, and it was frustrating to read without reading the first one.
As for this one, though the plot, per se, was really intriguing and kept me on my feet, it also was a little like mexican soap opera and I´m not a fan of this much drama.
I recommend you to read, it is a nice ride, but keep your mind open.

Dreaming With A Broken Heart (Hollywood Legends Book One) by Mary J. Williams

I was given an ARC in exchange of an honest review.

Hollywood is a cutthroat town.
Nobody knows that better than the Landis brothers.
It's time for them to step out of their parents' shadow.
IT'S TIME FOR THEM TO BECOME LEGENDS.
Garrett Landis is Hollywood's golden boy.
If he wants to make a movie, it gets made.
If he wants a woman, he only has to snap his fingers.
The moment he meets Jade Marlow he knows she's different.
She's the first woman to get under his skin. The first woman he can't have.
Jade Marlow is desperate to leave behind her tragic past.
Her ex-husband wants her dead. Her father is her worst enemy.
Jade wants Garrett, but she refuses to drag him into her mess of a life.
The attraction is undeniable.
What happens when your head tells you to stay away, but your heart won't listen?
Sex is easy.
Falling in love?
It's the hardest thing they will ever do.
But it could turn out to be the best thing that ever happened to them.

What a nice story. Well written and engaging. The relationship between Garrett and Jade evolved smoothly even with all the troubles caused by Jade´s father and her ex-husband.
I loved how she overcame her fears and weakness.
I think the detail about Garrett´s eyes was really endearing.
(His eyes are grey, but they become purple when he´s thinking about his love for Jade).
I fell in love with all the Landis, they´re perfect and I certainly hope each one of them will have his own book. Even Callie and Caleb.

The Alpha Drive (The Alpha Drive #1) by Kristen Martin

I was given an ARC in excghange of an honest review.

It's the year 2055 and an anarchist organization has taken control with the aim to create a world-class society. Half of humankind is unknowingly living in an alternate reality called Dormance . . . and there are no plans to wake them up.

Sixteen-year-old introvert Emery Parker is one such dormant. An academic scholar who avoids ruffling feathers at all costs, Emery finds herself being transferred to a boarding school on the outskirts of Arizona. Little does she know, a family secret has the power to change the course of the future. When she's approached with an opportunity to free the dormants, she sees no other choice but to accept, even though failure could mean having her memory wiped clean.

But when tech-savvy Torin Porter reaches out to her from the other side, Emery begins to question everything she was told about Dormance. If her family's secret falls into the wrong hands, the world as she knows it will be faced with irreversible consequences. Now Emery must play both sides to uncover the truth about her family's past or risk leaving mankind to live in an unconscious reality.

Oh my! How hard it is to review this book. I requested at NG because the blurb was really interesting. But after a few pages the story becomes something so hard to enjoy. It is confusing, always alternating the POV, and one minute it says something and then happens the opposite.
Emery and Rhea´s relationship is hard to grasp, they barely know each other, then they´re friends and in the next moment they're frenemies.
And Anthony, Emery´s boyfriend. One moment she says he´s distant and in the next breath, she´s the distant one and he´s needy and clingy. And Emery has a "best friend" she barely mentioned her and much less talk to her.
The plot though interesting is full of holes, like the fact that half of the world is in dormance. But how are they in dormance? Who did this and how they did it? Where are this people being kept?

It felt like I was reading a fanfic of Matrix, written by a teenager.

His Light in the Dark by L.A. Fiore

I was given an ARC in exchange of an honest review.

My first memory was of a slap, hard across the face: the sting on my cheek and the jarring of my bones as I slammed back into my bed. It was my dad who had hit me.

I had been four.

Most of my memories were much of the same and no one ever saw, no one ever fought to help, no one ever cared.

Then we moved.

My new neighbor cared, rescued the twelve-year-old I had been from a beating. Always thought I'd suffer the nightmare alone, I was wrong.

Mace Donati saved me that day in all the ways a person could be saved.

And his daughter, Mia, she became the friend I had always wanted, my conscience when my own faltered, the light that led me home when I had lost my way.

The girl who grew into the only woman I would ever love.

But when you realize you're more like your father than the good people who took you in and gave you a home, the only way to return their kindness is to let them go.

I let them go, got so far lost in the shadows I couldn't remember who I was anymore. Mia never gave up on me. She fought for me, kept the light on so I'd find my way back.

And when I did, life threw us a curveball. I had to hurt Mia in order to save her.

But when my past comes back to haunt me and I almost lose her, I'm ready to fight for her...fight to find a way back into her heart while keeping the demons from my past from finishing what they started.

Cole Campbell

This was a interesting book, with a plot full of angst and twists. I loved the end, when Mia found out about her father. It was really emotional, I cried for them.
I think the romance between Cole and Mia was a little over the top with so many "I want her" " Oh, but I can´t have her, because I´m a monster". In some moments I wished I could slap some sense into Cole.

I must say the book could have been better yet if it was shorter.

Off Limits by Callie Harper

Tuck

I like to fight and I like to f*ck.

Now’s my shot to fight for real, step out from my billionaire father’s shadow and be my own man. This summer’s all about going after my goal of becoming a pro MMA fighter.

The problem is the girl I want to f*ck. She’s driving me crazy with her little yoga outfits, her creamy skin, luscious curves and wide-eyed innocence. Normally, I’d hit it and quit it, get her out of my system and focus.

But she’s my goddamn stepsister. And she hates me. This summer we’re supposed to spend eight weeks together living under the same roof.

I need to taste her. I won’t rest until she’s writhing beneath me, begging me to let her come. I’m a man who gets what he wants, and what I want now is Jewel.

Jewel

I want him so bad it hurts. I’ve never felt this way before.

I’ve never had a problem keeping my distance from bad boys. The more muscles, tats and testosterone, the more I ran the other way. I learned my lesson, growing up with a trainwreck of a mother.

Until now.

Tuck makes my panties melt. He keeps me up at night, twisting in the sheets, obsessed with fantasies while I touch myself.

But he’s my stepbrother. And he’s an alpha, dominant asshole.

We’re sharing a house and he’s walking around shirtless, every inch of him ripped with hard muscle, sweaty after his brutal workouts. I don’t think I can hold out much longer. I’ve always been the good girl, but he makes me want to be bad.

I must say, as a Brazilian, I don't get it why the taboo about stepsiblings romance. They're not actually siblings or even slightly related and most of the time they met after they grown up, isn't like they were raised together since birth. In my language doesn´t even have a name for this. We just have "enteado" or " enteada" for stepson or stepdaughter, but this is it.
I have some friends who hates this kind of romance. But, I really enjoy them. This one in particular was pretty good and hot. I could feel the sizzling heat. It was so hot that my kindle almost melted in my hands, hahaha.

Tuck and Jewel forever.
