Shiver By Suzanne Wright

Kensey Lyons has never had ‘normal’. Instead, she has a mother who lives in her head, a stepfather who’s on death row, and the stigma that comes with being the child of an extramarital affair. Writing has always been her escape. Knowing the reception her books receive will be tainted by her personal life, Kensey secretly writes under a penname when she’s not working part-time at her godmother’s bar. Her world might not be exciting, but she likes it exactly as it is.
When she meets alarmingly compelling businessman Blake Mercier, the snap of attraction is instant. She doesn’t like it. Doesn’t want to be drawn to this man who is blatantly dangerous, carries dark secrets, and lives life by his own rules. Neither of them make a great first impression on the other, so she’s more than surprised when he begins to pursue her with a single-minded focus that is unsettling, thrilling, and infuriating. Her gut tells her to keep her distance, but Blake won’t let her run. Won’t give her space.
There’s another person who won’t give her space. Someone who has discovered the secret of her penname and who seems intent on taunting her. And as Kensey struggles to identify her persecutor, Blake is by her side, determined to keep her safe … because Blake Mercier always holds tight to what’s his. Always.

I´m a huge fan of Wright´s work. I loved "From Rags", the "Dark in You" series, and many other books by her.

And this one couldn´t be different.

Sometimes Blake was a little ( I mean, a lot) over the top. He was invasive, and too forward in his way to conquer Kelsey, but it didn´t bothered me. I felt as a part of the story, it was necessary, because she was really closed off, and if Blake wasn´t like that, they would never pass through the first stage of  chemistry they felt toward each other.

And, oh my, what a chemistry they had. It was "melting panties" kind of chemistry.

The plot was good, the mental diseases subject wasn´t treated lighlty. I loved how much Kelsey understood her mother limits, because of her issues.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Eu amei "From Rags", a série "Dark in You", e muitos outros livros dela.

When Bruce Met Cyn By Lori Foster

I was given an ARC in exchange of an honest review.

When Opposites Attract. . .
Bruce Kelly has spent most of his life helping people who are down on their luck, guiding them toward making better lives. Compassionate and kind, Bruce understands that everyone makes mistakes, even if he's never actually done anything but color inside the lines. Nobody's perfect, but Bruce is about to meet a woman who's perfect for him. He's determined to show her that he can be trusted. And if that means proving it by being the absolute gentleman at all times, then so be it. No matter how many cold showers it takes. . .

. . .Just Get Out Of The Way
Cyn Potter is a survivor, with a sassy, gallows wit and a fierce independent streak to show for it. She's used to men wanting only one thing, and this girl is no longer taking applications from big bad wolves in sheep's clothing, thank you very much, drive through please and keep on going. But Bruce Kelly is actually different. Totally hands off. Sometimes she can see a hint of fire when he looks at her, but the guy treats her with the respect she's always wanted. Maybe too much respect, because truthfully? The guy is fine. Worth taking down a few defenses for. . .and a few other things. And maybe somebody needs to help Bruce start over and discover just how perfect being imperfect can be. . .

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I love Lori Foster´s books, and was really happy to receive this ARC.

It was a good book. Bruce and Cyn certainly were opposites, but they fit together like rice and beans (sorry, brazilian reference here, hahaha). Also they had so much chemistry, they let me hot and bothered.

It was beautiful how he kept his distance just to make sure she didn´t felt overwhelmed by it.

The Like Us series is a true series, one continuous timeline, that follows a family of wealthy celebrities and the people that protect them. You must read Books 1 and 2 before reading Alphas Like Us.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I am a super fan of Krista an Becca, not only because they write one of my favorite series, but also because they are super humble, and take a little of their time to interact with their fans. As a voracious reader, I must say, not all authors do this.

In ALU, we can see how Moffy and Farrow has grown. They learnt a lot together, about themselves and about each other.

They have gone through pain, happiness, sickness... and they made to the other side as better persons.

Their path was full of obstacles, but they dodged or handled them as a unity.

It was beautiful to see, Farrow learning how to deal with Moffy´s family, after all.

And Farrow´s letter made me cry my eyes out.

-----

Some parts made me really mad, like this one:

"She plays favorite with her four daughters. And that hierarchy affects me and my sibllings and my cousins."

Thats Moffys thinking about his grandmother when she´s approaching him, to wish him a happy birthday, and what she says to him it was outrageous. And made me cry like a baby, again.

I hate parents who plays favorite, and as a grandchild I know exactly whats he goes through.

-----

Lo made me cry as well, obviously he didn´t made me angry. How could he? He couldn´t.

Loren calls Farrow for a walk, and while they walk and talk, Lo says to him:

"Take care of my son"

"My son will take care of you"

I´m crying just writing about it.

Lo, I love you.#LiLoForever #HaleForever

-----

Just thinking about how long I have to wait for Jane´s story makes me itchy.

Whatelse can I say, besides: "When can I get more?"

The British Knight by Louise Bay

When I’m offered the chance to leave New York to live in London for three months, I can’t pack my suitcase fast enough.

As soon as I touch down I’m obsessing over red telephone boxes, palaces and all the black cabs.

But my favorite place is the tube. It’s wall-to-wall hot British men in suits.

When I’m offered a temporary job working for a barrister, I say, sign me up.

On my first commute into work, it’s a total accident when I lose my balance and fall against the most handsome Brit alive. He’s as charming as James Bond and as suave as Mr. Darcy. I want to lick tea from his hard abs and listen to his accent all night long.

Turns out Mr. Handsome is my new boss. And his attitude isn’t as hot as his gorgeous face, broad shoulders and tight ass. He’s brooding, short-tempered and the most arrogant man I’ve ever met.

As we’re fighting, out of nowhere he kisses me. And I’m pretty sure I see fireworks over Big Ben and hear God Save the Queen.

I wasn’t looking for the fairytale but I might have found my knight in shining armor. The problem is he lives an ocean away.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

As a fan of Louise´s books I must say this one didn´t let me down.

It was as good as her previous books.

Though, I must say I couldn´t relate to Violet, because, I can´t imagine living a life where I don´t plan, or prepare myself financially to a problem in my future.

It makes me itch just thinking about it.

But, I loved her and Alex, their banter and chemistry, everything about them.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Sci fi books its always a surprise for me, I never know what kind of book I´ll read when I start a sci fi one.

I love the genre, but not everyone knows how to write a sci fi story. Its a chalenge in itself.

But Maura was up to the chalenge and this one was a good book.

I think the beginning was a little slow, but it gets better, and its really fast paced.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

‘You’ve got to help me,’ she pleads.
On a wet road in the black of night, Karl Seabury is driving home to his pregnant wife. Suddenly, caught in his headlights in the middle of the road is a woman shaking with fright.

The woman says her name is Liz Smith, that her home was attacked, and that she was the only one to escape.

In a split-second decision, Karl decides to help her to safety. But Liz is hiding a dark secret and now his good deed has put his family in terrible danger...

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I decided to read this book because its blurb caught my attention.

It was a good book, in a general sense, but it lacks common sense to the characters.

They made the kind of mistake that makes you scream in your head "Noooooo".

Like when horror movies characters that are running away from the bad guy always run up the stairs,
instead of running them down.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Well, first of all, I must say, I´m a great fan of KB books and I was ecstatic when I learnt I received an ARC to read and review this book. Can you believe my luck? Yeah, me neither.

So... The Raging Ones was a surprise, as a fan of KB work, read TRO was a suprise every step of the way.

About the storyline:

I knew it was a sci-fi book, but I didn´t expect the level of commitment they put through it. They create a whole new world, literally. With intricacies that left you think WTH just happenned? But, at the same time it was like our old little world.

I mean... the world they live in is full of prejudice toward babes and fast trackers and prejudice its something we all know very well, we see all around us, every day.

The way KB developed the plot, and started to unravel the story to us its really great, I didn´t felt like I couldn´t understand whats was happening. Sometimes, I felt like it was bit slow paced, and it could go faster without lose content or meaning. But it wasn´t enough to make me put the book down.

But, what really was a catch for me was their relationship. I expected more. I really wanted them to be a triad, and I felt sorry for Franny, whan I saw Court and Mykal as a couple, and she was left out. I hope all three of them become sometging more at the next book.

About the characters:

I loved Mykal, and I think he´s the glue to their relationship. He is the one who cares the most about Franny and Court. And they both let it go of their stupidity because of him.

Even though Court its the more intelligent one, Franny its the smartest one. She learnt fast even if she didnt had his academic background, and that says a lot, since he was a Wonder ( a super smart, gifted person)

Court, needs a review just for himself. He´s Intelligent, cunning, an Alpha in every way and he has great trust issues. I didn´t liked him as I liked Mykal and Franny, I thought he was cold toward both of them, but specially toward Franny.

About the end:

WTF!!!! I need the next one ASAP.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

WTF !!!! Preciso do próximo, o mais rápido possível.
