Unwanted Girl - M.K. Schiller

I was given an ARC in exchange of an honest review.

Recovering addict Nick Dorsey finds solace in his regimented life. That is until he meets Shyla Metha.  Something about the shy Indian beauty who delivers take-out to his Greenwich Village loft inspires the reclusive writer. And when Shyla reveals her desire to write a book of her own, he agrees to help her. The tale of a young Indian girl growing up against a landscape of brutal choices isn’t Nick’s usual territory, but something about the story, and the beautiful storyteller, draws him in deep.

Shyla is drawn to Nick, but she never imagines falling for him. Like Nick, Shyla hails from a village, too…a rural village in India. They have nothing in common, yet he makes her feel alive for the first time in her life. She is not ready for their journey to end, but the plans she’s made cannot be broken…not even by him. Can they find a way to rewrite the next chapter?

As a fan of MK Schiller books I was thrilled when my request of this book was accepted. But this book exceeded any expectations I had about it. It's a gut-wrenching and heart-warming story that made me wept like a baby and feel my heart full of joy for Shyla and Nick.
She is the definition of a bad-ass heroine. She went through hell and back and surpassed everything until she found her HEA.
And Nick is like a balm for her broken soul.

I can´t say much more without giving spoilers, but I strongly recommend you to prepare your heart to be taken to a world of sorrow but also of the most fundamental joy in the world.

Last Wish - Erin Butler

I was given an arc in exchange of an honest review.

Ronan made a promise to his best friend. He promised to take care of his sister, and then his friend died and he felt obligated to take care of her. But what he didn´t expected was her to start a relationship with her brother`s killer. And to makes him a ultimatum, forgive him or forget her.
Em was in an abusive relationship, and when she could see clearly what was going on, she ran from it right to Bear´s arms and that´s was the best thing that could ever happen.

This story was kind of slow at the beginning but after reach full throttle it was really good.
I loved Bear, he´s the ultimate guy, big and sweet. His relationship with Em is beautiful.

Power Play (Pilots Hockey #2) - Sophia Henry

I was given an ARC in exchange of an honest review.

I´m in a row of "meh" books. They're all books that could be awesome but turned out being mediocre when not downright ridiculous.
I was completely annoyed with this book, the way the story was told, the characters, the plot itself.
Everything seemed forced, even her relationship with her family.
Gabriela had a crush on Landon since ever, and apparently he had one crush on her as well. But after that many years, he out of the blue, started to flirt with her.
And her father was a sexist pig. Joey was ridiculous. And I think I´ll stop here.

The Backup: A Montgomery University Novel - Kathryn Renard

I was given an ARC in exchange of a honest review.

This book started well enough, and sometimes it was really good, but it mostly was "meh" and in the end was downright outrageous.
Josie Savage is the daughter of a football star and when she starts in college she Runner Rarity, the backup QB and they hit it off but he has a girlfriend, a lunatic girlfriend.
My first impression of Runner was that he was nice, but I thought he will cheat on his girlfriend, who he thought bad about her all the time. How she was nicer, less blond, less mean when they´re was in highschool.
Josie left me confused about her personality, because she was a doormat to her parents, especially her father but she fought back other people.
Actually, most of this book left me confused, it was irritating and gave me whiplash.
Runner turned out being an Asshole with an capital A, and a cheater, with the "poor guy" complex. And Josie wasn´t so badass as I thought, hence she accept him and his assholery back.

Malibu Secrets (Malibu Sights #2) - M.K. Meredith

I was given an ARC in exchange of an honest review.

I requested this book at netgalley because I love books which the story are related to movie stars or something like it. But it didn't worked for me. I don´t know what was the real problem, certainly someone else can related to it, but I couldn't. It missed something

Eu solicitei esse livro no netgalley, pq adoro livros com estrelas de cinema e coisas do tipo, mas não gostei. Não sei especificar qual foi realmente o problemas, mas não gostei. Faltou algo.

A Love for the Pages - Joy Penny

I was given an ARC in exchange of an honest review.

June Eyermann is back home after her first as a freshman in college. When she ´s home she start to feel like the pressure to know what to do with her future and as a way to escape she accept a position at the library as a volunteer.
There she finds Everett Rockford the hero to her love story.
Actually this book was kind of a let down. It did not focused on the romance part, they barely talk until way beyond half of the book. June spends more time comparing him to her books boyfriends and when they really started a relationship it felt rushed and it was already at the end of the book.

The Dirt on Ninth Grave (Charley Davidson #9) - Darynda Jones

I'm completely mesmerized by this series. Each book left me wanting more. I don´t know how Darynda does, but she´s an awesome writer.
In this book Charley is amnesiac, she learnt her name which led to an explosion of sorts and she end up in Sleepy Hollow with headless guy and everything.
There she struggles to remember who she is, what she doesn't know is that al her family, friends and ghosts are surrounding her. They´re there for her, waiting her memories to come back.
She is as sassy as ever, and as infatuated with Reyes as evermore.
Though she doesn't remember her past she didn't lose her witty comebacks, which always let me laughing like a lunatic.
I cried when her father sacrificed his time on earth with her so she could remember everything. And I was completely stunned when she learnt Reyes was one god as well.
Now I have to wait so much time for the next book that makes me wanna cry even more.
